Add a language

Open module languages

As a student at Brookes you have the opportunity to add a language to your programme of study. These are credit-bearing modules which will form part of your degree credits.

( full details about languages on offer at different language levels and timetable )

Undergraduate Students

Students enrolled on the Undergraduate Programmes can take one or more language modules on offer as part of their programme in Stage 1 or Stage 2. See your student support coordinator in week 0 if you need help adding the module to your PIP.

Postgraduate Students

Students enrolled on a postgraduate programme can also take language modules as associate students. Please see Hayley Card, hcard@brookes.ac.uk, based in Gibbs G104, Gipsy Lane Campus, or Iain Sloan in the Admissions Office, to pick up the necessary form and information. The form should be returned to Hayley in week 0. The final deadline is Wednesday week 1 – if you do not return the form by this date you will not be allowed to take the module.

Associate Students

Members of the public can register on an Open Module as an Associate Student of the University. For detailed information on how to enrol for your chosen course and for application deadlines, please refer to the Associate Students Guide

Which language level am I?

We use the Common EU Framework system to assess language competency.

If you wish to take one of our language courses we advise you to take an online placement test. When you have completed the test, email us your results to languages@brookes.ac.uk and we will advise you which level you can register for.

For all other language courses please contact us to discuss your level and where appropriate to organise a placement test languages@brookes.ac.uk.
